While it’s often grouped in with Busan’s “must-see” spots, it feels more like a place you wander through slowly than a checklist-style attraction.
Huinnyeoul is sometimes called the ‘Santorini of Busan’ due to its white and blue houses cascading down the hillside toward the sea.
Most visitors spend a few hours here, combining the village walk with the coastal tunnel and Instagram-worthy piano stairs below.
Finding The Huinnyeoul Village Walking Route
Most visitors arriving will see a white building along the main road and take the staircase leading down into the village. This is the most common entry point.
Head down the stairs and onto the path where you’ll find some coin-operated binoculars overlooking the sea and coastline.

Walking Through Huinnyeoul Village: The Main Path
Now you’re on the main walking path through Huinnyeoul Culture Village, which is essentially the route visitors follow while exploring.
Cafes and Shops Along the Route
Souvenir shops are dotted along this path, while the cafes tend to be clustered closer together.
It’s an easy place to stroll. So if a shop or cafe catches your eye, pop inside and look around before continuing on your way.
Many of the cafes have outdoor seating angled toward the water, which explains why certain spots fill up quickly.
I stopped at the same cafe with a spacious outdoor patio overlooking the water. These larger terraces typically offer the best views.
You’ll also find a shop along the path with cat merchandise and a resident kitty, if you’re into that sort of thing
Facilities and Practical Tips
For anyone who feels anxious about finding restrooms while exploring, there are public bathrooms along this main path, making wandering around the village much more comfortable.
Keep an eye out for the local cats too. They’re often stretched out in the sun or tucked into quiet corners.
The Piano Stairs (Rainbow Stairs) and Coastal Trail
As you continue along the path, you’ll eventually reach the piano stairs that lead down toward the coast.
Just before the stairs, there’s a covered seating area where you can take a rest and look out at the ships.
The first section of stairs is a popular Instagram selfie spot, so it’s common to see small groups waiting their turn to take pictures.
From this point, take the piano stairs (also known as the rainbow stairs) down to the Joryeong Coastal Walking Trail.
Huinnyeoul Coastal Tunnel: The K-Drama Filming Location
One of the highlights along this stretch is the Huinnyeoul Coastal Tunnel, a popular photo spot that’s appeared in several K-dramas.
The tunnel has appeared in several Korean films and television productions over the years, including The Attorney and episodes of Infinite Challenge, to name a few.
It’s common to see a line of people waiting their turn to get a few shots framed by the cave opening with the sea and cityscape in the background.
As you walk through the tunnel, you’ll find a few more selfie spots. Beyond the tunnel, you’ll find a small beach cove.
Rather than sand, this area is made up of smooth river stones, giving it a quiet, tucked-away feel that contrasts with the busier village above.
Once you’ve got your K-drama selfie shot and you’re ready to move on, you’ll need to climb back up the piano stairs.
If I haven’t mentioned this already, let me officially warn you: South Korea loves stairs. Huinnyeoul is no exception. These felt like climbing around 100 steps.
Once you’re back at the top, you can walk down the street to the bus stop. Along the way, you may find a few more shops and cafes to enjoy.
Huinnyeoul is an easy half-day visit that combines scenic walks, coastal views, and plenty of photo opportunities.
Just be prepared for stairs and crowds at the main Instagram spots.

When to Visit Huinnyeoul Village
Plan for 2-3 hours to walk through the village, explore the coastal tunnel, and take photos at the piano stairs.
The area gets crowded between late morning and early afternoon, especially on weekends.
For better lighting and fewer people, early morning or late afternoon visits work well.
The village is accessible year-round, though the outdoor cafes and coastal trail are most enjoyable in spring and fall.
How to Get to Huinnyeoul Village
From Nampo Station: Take exit 6 and turn right, walk straight towards the bus stop along the road, about 53m . Take bus# 7, 71 or 508. It’s about a 10 minute ride.
There are three bus stops in the village along the main road. I recommend the first stop: Huinnyeoul Culture Village 흰여울문화마을.
Walk forward 48m in the direction of the bus. You should see a white building with stairs leading down to the village.
